Spring Weather Means Garage Sales Are Open

I’m glad to finally get some nice, warm weather. Now, finally, it feels more like springtime.

Which means it’s time to clean out the closets, the basement and the garage.

Speaking of garages, it’s garage sale time.

I’ve seen neighborhood garage sale signs popping up throughout Noblesville.

Those who’ve recently driven Indiana 38 east through Pendleton might have noticed a large sign banner hanging across the highway in downtown Pendleton, promoting the annual Highway 38 Sale, from Noblesville to New Castle, on Friday and Saturday. Garage sales are usually found all along the more than 30 miles of highway from Noblesville to New Castle the first Friday and Saturday in May.

When I first moved to Old Town Noblesville in 1995, I started organizing a neighborhood sale the same two days as the Highway 38 sale,  hoping that my neighborhood sale would catch on.

Before I began having my own garage sale, I enjoyed attending all of the sales in the neighborhoods, attending in South Harbour, North Harbour, Wellington North, Wellington Northeast and other neighborhoods. South Harbour sales were where I bought my first LawnBoy lawn mower. A few years later, I upgraded to another LawnBoy mower at one of the garage sales.

Residents in Wellington Northeast are having their annual neighborhood spring garage sale all day Saturday. The neighborhood is accessible from Greenfield Avenue and Allisonville Road in Noblesville.

There is also a neighborhood sale today at Conner Creek in Fishers, just off of Ind. 131st Street.

North Harbour’s Neighborhood Spring Sale is also today.

Some of the other neighborhoods having garage sales today are Havenwood in Noblesville; Merrimac, Springmill Villages and Derby Ridge in Westfield; Brooks Landing, Brooks Manor, Lantern Ridge and Tremont in Fishers; and Waterstone in Carmel.

Signs are going up for several other neighborhoods having sales this weekend, also.
