Heights Cheer Team Try Outs Set
If you are looking for a physical and mental challenge, enjoy being a vital part of pep rallies, and performances, and love supporting your fellow athletes, you are encouraged to be part of the Hamilton Heights cheer squads. The sport brings with it the best in athleticism, attitude, and entertainment and has been an integral part of Heights athletics for decades.
“At Heights, being a part of the cheer squad brings with it opportunities and responsibilities,” said Nikki Myrick, now in her 7th year of cheer coaching at HHMS. “Being a cheerleader takes dedication and a positive, energetic spirit. It requires practice, commitment, and leadership where members work together to grow their talent and sideline skills.”
Over the summer five HHMS 8th-grade cheer squad members kicked their skills up to the next level earning the title of All-American Cheerleader which gave them the opportunity to cheer at the Citrus Bowl. Three (Illiana Bowyer, Grace Reynolds, and Rylee Worland) traveled to Orlando and joined cheerleaders from around the country in practice and performance as part of the pregame festivities. Attending and participating at the Citrus Bowl was made possible thanks in part to Harber Exteriors, IBEW Local 1393, Reynolds Farm Equipment, Beck’s Hybrid, Black Sheep Ranch, 7P HVAC, Thomas Docks, and Heuer Homes.
“Their generosity helped offset the costs involved in the trip,” said Myrick, who is deeply grateful for their interest and support.
“It was a great experience for these girls to be a part of this incredible event,” Myrick added. “There was so much excitement and energy from being on the field to enjoying some great college football action.”
Middle School cheer tryouts are set for today, Tuesday and Thursday. High School tryouts take place on March 18,19, and 21.
