Noblesville Lions Set Recruitment Open House
You may have seen a sign for the Lions Club as you entered Noblesville. You may have seen Lions handing out candy in the Fourth of July parade with our mascot, Stanley. You may have even had a great meal at our annual Pork Chop Dinner and Pancake Breakfast. But who are the Lions and what is Lionism?
Lions International started in 1917 in Chicago Illinois. Led by the simple motto of “We Serve,” Lions Clubs quickly grew in towns and cities around the world with members working to help where help is needed. The ideal expressed as “Lionism” is to find projects and areas of need and help, not for any personal gain, but for the knowledge of doing something to make the world just a little better.
The Noblesville Lions Club was founded in 1942 and are celebrating our 82nd anniversary. Our Club’s primary focus is helping the kids of Noblesville, particularly around vision and hunger and we do this by providing free eye exams to all third, fifth and seventh grade students at each school, as well as younger kids at many day care facilities and other locations by appointment. We work with the Boys and Girls Club of Noblesville, Fueled for School, and many other local projects as well as giving six scholarships annually to Noblesville and Hamilton Heights High School seniors for their continuing studies. Our members come from all backgrounds and have a lot of fun working on our projects and fundraisers.
The Club will be hosting an Information Open House on Wednesday Oct. 9 at Ginger’s Café, 1111 S. 10th Street at 6:30 p.m. If you would like to know more about what the club does to help the community, please come check us out.
