Library Hosts Epic Fandom Event

Hamilton East Public Library is thrilled to announce its first ever LibraryCon!, a day dedicated to all things fantasy, fandom, and geeky goodness! This one-of-a-kind event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fishers Library located at 5 Municipal Dr. in Fishers. Fans of all ages are invited to come dressed as their favorite characters and join fellow enthusiasts for a day filled with a variety of workshops, live performances, games, crafts, vendors, artists and unforgettable experiences.

Whether you’re a wizard, Jedi, superhero, or Pokémon trainer, this event will have something for everyone. Highlights include:

  • Trivia Showdown: Want to test your trivia chops? Compete in categories ranging from Pokémon, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and more. The top three teams will win fantastic prizes, so bring your A-game and prepare for a fun-filled challenge!
  • Craft Activities: Unleash your creativity with craft activities, where fans can make a dice bracelet, craft a no-sew cape for your inner hero or villain, make a manga-themed button or magnet, and more.
  • Artist and Vendor Marketplace: Visit the Artist and Vendor Marketplace in Ignite Studio to purchase fandom art, memorabilia, games, and more! Visit the Friends of the Library Book Shop for a special LibraryCon! sale—50% off select items. Check out the “Random Fandom” art exhibit in the lower lobby featuring fan art from over 15 local artists.
  • Photo Opportunities: Want to take a picture of your amazing cosplay? Check out the 360° photobooth and selfie stations throughout the library for memorable photo ops.
  • Cosplay Contest and Parade: Show off your totally awesome attire! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, everyone is welcome. From superheroes to villains, anime characters to video game legends, let’s see your best interpretations. Win amazing prizes and bragging rights!

“We are excited to give people a way to connect through their favorite fandoms,” said Erin Weir, Teen Program Coordinator. “Fandoms are communities that share their love of stories and characters in books, media, and art. This event will let fans of all kinds meet, celebrate, and learn from each other in a fun, welcoming space for all.”

Attendance and activities are free, aside from the artist and vendor marketplace and on-site food trucks. The event is open to all ages, and families are encouraged to attend. RSVP is not required, though some workshops and activities require day-of onsite registration and are on a first-come, first served basis.
