One Artist Show at Art League Next Month

AOne-Artist-Show by Indiana artist Roy Boswell will be featured at the Southside Art League Off Broadway Gallery in Greenwood next month. Boswell will be exhibiting a unique collection of oil and acrylic paintings.

Boswell, born in 1985, is based in Butlerville, Ind. His subject matter reflects his personal connection to his childhood on a family farm, exploring themes of nostalgia and rural tranquility. His work is characterized by tight value families, inventive color palettes and well-designed compositions.

The journey of creating art is as unique as the artists themselves. For Boswell, the process of crafting smaller paintings, sketches and value and color studies plays a crucial role in transforming disparate external influences into cohesive works of art. These preparatory pieces serve as a bridge, helping him to shape a unified vision for his painting that effectively communicates an idea. This exhibit offers a glimpse into this crucial phase of refining, distilling and letting go of what is unnecessary, while allowing the essence of the idea to emerge.

Boswell has won numerous Best of Show awards, including Indiana Heritage Arts Annual Exhibition, Richmond Art Museum Annual Exhibition (twice), First Blush of Fall (twice), Carmel on Canvas, and Will Vawter Annual Exhibition. His artwork will be displayed from April 2-26 at the Southside Art League, Inc. Off Broadway Gallery. It’s located at 299 E. Broadway St. in historic Old Town Greenwood.  The gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be a reception for Boswell at a SALI Open House on Friday, April 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
