Sen. Walker Shares Update

It’s hard to believe that there’s now less than a month remaining of the 2025 legislative session. Over the coming weeks, I’ll continue to work to pass several pieces of legislation I authored and sponsored, among them Senate Bill 209 and House Bill 1441.

SB 209 would allow for the use of electronic pull tab systems for local veterans and fraternal organizations, modernizing charitable gaming while bolstering crucial funding for these groups. House Bill 1441 would allow a foster youth at least 16 years old or an emancipated minor under the age of 18 to open a savings or checking account without an adult cosigner and with the consent of a juvenile court with jurisdiction over the child.

I’ve been honored to work with several organizations throughout the session to move bills through the legislative process and want to thank them for their support. I look forward to working to get these bills and more across the finish line and to the governor’s desk.

In other session news, I recently welcomed several District 31 students to the statehouse as a part of our Senate page program. It was great showing them around the statehouse and answering their questions about how state government works. You can learn more about the program here.

And congratulations to the Fishers High School boys basketball team on an incredible season!
