Westfield to Honor Fallen Heroes at Memorial Day Ceremony 

Westfield will pay tribute to brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation at its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Wednesday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. near the Fallen Hoosier Heroes Memorial (401 N. Union Street). Free parking available at Christ United Methodist Church (318 N. Union Street) and Westfield High School with a complimentary shuttle provided to transport guests to-and-from the ceremony location. This outdoor event is free and open to the public, but the city requests RSVPs. 

The ceremony will feature remarks from local veterans, including Mayor Scott Willis and Lt. Col. Billy Ray Moore, who will serve as the keynote speaker. The newly formed Westfield Community Choir will also perform a special selection of songs to honor the fallen heroes. 

“Serving our great nation as a U.S. Marine is one of my greatest honors in life,” Willis said. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to honor my brothers and sisters who gave everything for our safety and freedom. Their sacrifices are an important reminder that we must never forget their service, their courage, or the ideals they gave their lives to protect.” 

As part of the ceremony, all attendees will be invited to place a carnation at the base of the Fallen Heroes Memorial to honor the fallen.
