Hotel Carmichael Expanding in Carmel
Further solidifying its position as a premier destination for business and leisure travel, the City of Carmel today announced the expansion of the Hotel Carmichael as part of a public-private partnership with Pedcor Companies that includes no new city or taxpayer funding.
Located in the heart of Carmel City Center, the Hotel Carmichael, part of the Marriott International’s Autograph Collection brand, was awarded the 2025 Best Luxury Boutique Hotel in Indiana by Luxury Travel Magazine and has seen overwhelming success since its opening in 2020 with 122 guest rooms, 5,000 square feet of meeting space and increased occupancy every year. The continued growth in demand for the Hotel Carmichael has prompted an expansion of rooms and event space that is slated for completion in fall 2026. Pedcor Companies is covering all costs of the build out, with no new money needed from the City of Carmel or the Carmel Redevelopment Commission. “The Hotel Carmichael is one of our state’s foremost hotel properties and Carmel’s appeal to business and leisure travelers will grow exponentially as part of this exciting project,” Mayor Sue Finkam said. “We appreciate Pedcor partnering with us to enhance our City Center in a way that benefits our taxpayers, business community and visitors.” The expansion will be housed across four floors in the north end of the new Wren building, directly connected to the current hotel structure, allowing seamless integration and guest access to the businesses within the Wren at Carmel City Center. “This expansion is a reflection of the strong demand we’ve seen since opening and the continued growth of Carmel as a destination city,” said Pedcor Companies President and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Cordingley. “We’re excited to further enhance the experience for visitors and residents alike.” |
The addition will include 60 new guest rooms, including nine double rooms, 30 king rooms and 21 suites, three of which will be presidential suites. The expansion project will also add a 913-square-foot executive boardroom and a new 2,052-square-foot ballroom. The new boardroom will seat up to 18 people with a designated pre-meeting staging area. The ballroom will accommodate 120 people in a banquet setting and 160 people for a reception.
“Marriott is thrilled with the expansion of the Hotel Carmichael, a standout example of the excellence of the Autograph Collection,” said Marriott International Vice President, North America Full Service Development, Western Region, Willis Cheng. “We’re proud of what this hotel represents today, and deeply grateful to the City of Carmel and Pedcor for their continued collaboration in shaping such a remarkable and prominent landmark along the Monon Greenway in the heart of City Center.”
The overall expansion will enhance the hotel’s operational efficiency and capacity. With its strong occupancy rates, the additional accommodations will enable the hotel to better serve increased demand from community events, weddings, business travelers and leisure guests. The Adagio Lounge will be expanded, with current boardroom space converted to additional lounge seating. All of the new spaces will mirror the hotel’s existing aesthetic, featuring the same classical décor, rich furnishings and luxurious accents that define the Hotel Carmichael experience.
