School Counselor Week is a time to recognize those who support students academically, socially, and emotionally every single day. At Sheridan Community Schools, the school counselors play a vital role in helping SCS students. They provide care by helping them navigate challenges, set goals, and envision their future. The four outstanding counselors at SCS are passionate, dedicated, and committed to the care, support, and well-being of all SCS students. SHS Principal Rick Davis shared, “Thank you for all you do for the students of Sheridan! Their work truly makes a difference!”

  • Blake Moyer – Sheridan High School Counselor

This is Blake’s first year at SCS, after spending two years as a school counselor in Denver, Colorado. Blake shared that she was drawn to school counseling because it allows her to support not just students but also families and teachers. “Each day looks different and brings new challenges, which makes the work both meaningful and rewarding. My favorite part of being a school counselor is building personal connections with students and supporting them as they work toward and achieve their dreams.” Outside of school, Blake enjoys working out, trying new restaurants, traveling, and spending time with two beloved cats, Pitch and Poké. Blake was recently married in October!

  • Bethany Mineart – Sheridan High School Counselor

Bethany is in her second year at SHS. When she came to SHS, she brought with her nearly two decades of experience as a high school counselor at Lebanon High School. In college, Bethany pursued psychology, but found that school counseling blended her aspirations perfectly. “I love working with students, helping with day-to-day things, and supporting their future goals. It is really fun to watch how they grow throughout high school.” Bethany is married to her high school sweetheart and has two teenage children, along with multiple animals!

  • Jamie Galloway – Sheridan Middle School Counselor

Jamie has been with SCS for one year, starting last January. She brings a powerful personal connection to her work as her own experiences as a student shaped her passion for ensuring all children feel supported and heard. Throughout middle and high school, Jamie struggled with the social aspect of school, but her college academic advisor really took the time and initiative to get to know her. ”She gave me interest inventories and personality assessments to help me discover that a career in School Counseling would be a great fit for me. I now strive to be that ear I didn’t have in middle school and that voice I didn’t have in high school for all of my students.” Jamie was a top-three finalist for the Indiana School Counselor Association’s 2024 High School Counselor of the Year and is excited to now serve at the middle school level. She is also a proud mom to two young sons and loves being part of the Sheridan community.

  • Amanda Williams – Sheridan Elementary School Counselor

Amanda is in her second year at Sheridan Community Schools and is deeply committed to supporting students in a safe, nurturing environment. “Every day is different, and I can work with our students and staff in a variety of ways. My goal is to provide a safe, nurturing space where I can help support students who are struggling socially, emotionally, or behaviorally.” Amanda is a proud Purdue basketball fan and mom to four—twin boys and two daughters, one of whom is attending Purdue to become a teacher..
