Hamilton County Emergency Management
It is time to prepare for severe weather season, and Governor Eric Holcomb proclaimed March 12-18, 2023, to be Severe Weather Preparedness Week. The statewide tornado drill is scheduled for Tuesday, March 14, at approximately 10:15 a.m. To prepare for the drill, Hamilton County Emergency Management will resume the weekly sounding of the outdoor warning sirens on Friday, March 10, at 11:00 a.m.
“The outdoor warning sirens are intended to warn those who are outdoors. Because sirens are not intended to warn those indoors, we recommend that every household and business have a weather radio,” said Executive Director of Emergency Management Shane Booker. Knowing what to do and where to go starts by understanding a watch vs. a warning. A watch means it is time to get ready, and a warning means take action. The three key elements of being prepared for any emergency or disaster are making a plan, building a disaster kit, and staying informed by downloading the Emergency Management App at https://apps.myocv.com/share/a14846034 along with having a weather radio.
