Steve Schwartz elected president of Hamilton County Council
Steve Schwartz has been elected president of the Hamilton County Council. He replaces Amy Massillamany in the role. Ken Alexander will serve as Vice President. Election of officers is an annual practice at the first meeting of each year.
Schwartz was elected to the Hamilton County Councilors in 2002. He represents District 3 which includes Noblesville, Jackson, and White River Townships.
Schwartz’s interest in politics began in 1999, shortly after the West Fork of the White River experienced a massive fish kill. Schwartz and friends worked with the Department of Natural Resources to rehabilitate and restock the White River. He ran for County Council three years later.
Since then, Schwartz has been instrumental in creating more than $50 million in surplus and rainy-day funds for the County while maintaining one of the state’s lowest county tax rates. He is also proud of the many road and bridge projects the Council has helped finance.
Schwartz and his wife Lori have been married for 39 years. They own Schwartz’s Bait & Tackle in Noblesville. The couple shares two grown sons and a six-year-old granddaughter.
