Smile

What makes Joshua Leach smile? “Fairies,” said the 46-year-old Noblesville resident, who donned pointed ears and dressed as a fairy on Saturday for Nickel Plate Arts’ 11th annual Welcome to Fairyville event. He was found greeting guests outside the front door at Nickel plate Arts Campus. “I am helping Nickel Plate make sure that the guests have a wonderful time… I am helping entertain kids.” It’s his first time to dress as a fairy for the event. So how did he come up with his costume? “It was a family thing. The whole family looked and searched and found all of the accouterments.” Daytime occupation? “I work for the Nielsen TV ratings,” which measure media audiences. Hobbies? “I am an avid gardener and part-time genealogist.” He was born in Kansas City, Mo., and mostly raised in California, where he met his wife, Leah. She was also dressed as a fairy at the Nickel Plate event under a tent promoting her Gal’s Guide Library, which is located on the second floor of the Nickel Plate Arts Campus. Joshua and Leah came to Noblesville after he got out of the U.S. Army in 2004, to be near his wife’s parents, who lived in Indianapolis. The Leaches celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary last Wednesday at Nickel Plate Arts’ Fairy Ball.
