Noblesville’s first toboggan team prepares for nationals in Maine

This week, the first-ever Noblesville-based toboggan team, named the Hoosier Hotshots, announced their participation in the 31st Annual US National Toboggan Championships in Maine.

“After months of planning, we’re elated to see this initiative come to life,” said Geoff Davis, captain of the team. “It’s encouraging to see the grassroots support popping up throughout Hamilton County!”

In addition to Geoff, the team includes Indiana residents Ken Bubp and Joe Rudy, as well as former-Hoosier-turned-Colorado-resident Miles Morosi.

“What I’ve grown to learn about tobogganing, is how rooted in community the sport is,” team member Ken Bubp added. “We decided to take that to heart and invite the community supporting us to help assemble the toboggan we’re bringing with us to Maine.”

To build the toboggan, the Hoosier Hotshots are hosting a “toboggan build day” which will take place on Saturday, January 29th from 9AM to 4PM in the Community Room off the South Alley at 839 Conner Street. Community members who show up to the open house-style event will be able to help assemble the race-grade toboggan by drilling screws, learning how to bend wood, and helping ensure the toboggan meets race-grade specifications.

Also of note, 12 Stars Media, a nationally acclaimed documentary studio based in Indiana, will be following the team to create a documentary about the community build and the team’s travel to Maine.
