Nancy Doty Retires From Nursing After 44 Remarkable Years
Nancy Doty, a retiring nurse, has had a remarkable career and journey working 44 years at Majestic Care of Sheridan. Nancy genuinely enjoys connecting with her residents and bringing smiles to their faces. She is kind, patient, hardworking, and a joy to be around.
Her career began as a candy striper in high school, and after graduating, she decided to become a nursing assistant in 1979, a time when certification wasn’t required. Working the night shift, she found joy in caring for patients and building strong bonds with her coworkers.
In 1981, Nancy took a significant step by enrolling at J Everett Light Center, embarking on an 18-month journey to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), which she accomplished in May 1983.
When asked for a highlight of her career, Nancy shared, “I was employee of the year; it was special as my coworkers chose that award for me. I have had Residents tell me that I am their favorite nurse. I love that!”
Nancy’s enduring commitment to long-term care can be attributed to her deep connection with those she cares for. “I really enjoyed getting to know my patients and their families. With long-term care, you can follow your patient’s journey through life, you feel that you have become part of their family.”
When asked what she loves about Majestic Care of Sheridan, Nancy shared, “I’ve always loved being at Sheridan, it’s my hometown. There were a few years when it was difficult to work here, the care for the staff wasn’t there, but with the change to Majestic Care and new administration, it has become a pleasure again. I will miss you all!!!
We sincerely appreciate and thank Nancy for her hard work and dedication! She will be missed by many when she retires.
