Scholarships Available Through Friends of Parks
The group Friends of Hamilton County Parks, Inc. is excited to announce the opening of applications for the 2025 Youth Recreation Leader Scholarship Program. This initiative is designed to increase diversity in the parks and recreation field by providing support to talented high school juniors from traditionally underrepresented groups. Five students will be selected as recipients and each student will receive a $1500.00 YRLS grant in September of 2025.
The scholarship offers a unique opportunity for students to engage with Hamilton County’s parklands while pursuing careers in parks and recreation. In addition to financial support, recipients will gain valuable experience by attending FHCPI Board meetings.
Key Details:
- Eligibility: High school juniors in Hamilton County
- Application Deadline: July 31, 2025
- Required Materials: Resume, written submission, and three letters of reference
- Board Meeting Attendance: Monthly, on the third Wednesday of each month, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
- Assistance in organizing at least two youth forums, titled Conversations with Future Leaders in Parks and Rec, equiping high school students with the knowledge, tools, and resources to explore careers in this sector.

- Review Period: Aug. 1-31, 2025
- Winners Announced: Week of Sept. 8, 2025
- Scholarship Awarded: Sept. 22, 2025, at the On Par for Parks Golf Outing
