Nickel Plate Express to Host Celebration for Hobbs Station Grand Opening at Forest Park
Join a once in a lifetime train experience as the Nickel Plate Express (NPX) celebrates on June 11 the grand opening of the Hobbs Station at Forest Park Depot.
Special 45-minute celebratory NPX train rides will depart at 10 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tickets for the special event are only $25 per person, and the first two hundred ticketed passengers will receive a commemorative Hobbs Station lapel pin
Helping to make dedication day even more special:
- Custard Dog food truck will be onsite selling a variety of lunch items and sweet treats
- A new train-themed playground is available for children adjacent to the depot.
- The newly landscaped area around the depot includes a new covered picnic area, one of the many available in the park.
Guests will board the NPX unique, tall railcars from the beautifully restored Hobbs Depot platform, with its new covered areas. They also are encouraged to spend time browsing the newly opened Hobbs Station gift shop. New restroom facilities also now are available.

Nickel Plate Express is a program of the Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad, a charitable nonprofit that operates the historic Arcadia Depot and offers entertainment and educational excursions on historic train equipment out of Forest Park, Noblesville. The 12.5 miles of Nickel Plate track is owned by the Hoosier Heritage Port Authority and runs from Noblesville through Cicero and Arcadia to Atlanta, Ind., in northern Hamilton County.
