Friends of Indianapolis Animal Care Services Foundation surprised with $15K donation from Petco Love

Local pet adopter’s story selected as winner in annual Petco Love Stories campaign, surprising Friends of Indianapolis Animal Care Services with $15,000 award. Now they can earn $25k more with public’s vote

Friends of Indianapolis Animal Care Services was surprised with a $15,000 check from Petco Love, all thanks to a story submitted by two local pet adopters in the Petco Love Stories campaign. Now Friends of Indianapolis Animal Care Services can earn up to an additional $25,000, but they need the community’s support. From now through Dec. 15, noon CST, the public can vote for Friends of Indianapolis Animal Care Services’ stories in the People’s Choice competition at petcolove.org/lovestories.

These two stories were selected as part of 100 Love Stories winners from across the country this year earning Friends of Indianapolis Animal Care Services $15,000 from Petco Love.

Adopted dog brings love and support to middle school therapy ($10K Winner): Kennedy and her adopted dog Remy have traveled across the country, hiked mountains, and completed AKC trainings, but their greatest adventure is just beginning. Together, they’re making middle school art therapy a supportive, welcoming space. Vote for story.

Adopted cat helps pet mom find hope after loss ($5K Winner): Kristen was recovering from long-term COVID complications and was grieving the sudden loss of her family. Then she adopted a cat named Pete, who’s playful and curious nature helped bring love, laughter, and joy back to her life again. Vote for story.

“These powerful Love Stories reflect the importance of pets in our lives. Whether the best or worst of times, the love of pets can change everything,” said Petco Love President, Susanne Kogut. “Reading these touching tales strengthens our resolve to create a world where every shelter pet finds a loving family, and no pet is unnecessarily euthanized. This year, we are proud to award more than $1 million to further empower lifesaving organizations, like Friends of Indianapolis Animal Care Services, that work tirelessly to save pet lives.” People’s Choice Competition: The top five stories with the most votes will earn additional grant funding from $5,000 to $25,000.
