John A. Cooksey

John A. Cooksey went to his forever home in Heaven on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022 at the age of 71, in Carmel, Ind.

He was born Oct. 26, 1950 in Noblesville, Ind. He was the son of Edgar Cooksey, Sr., Fredia Isenhower Cooksey and Stepdad Tommy Lair.

His battle with serious medical issues in the last year showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Mr. Cooksey came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Mr. Cooksey was a 1968 graduate of Noblesville High School. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Air Force. After serving, he married his sweetheart, Kay, in 1977.

He enjoyed spending time with the family, fishing, reading, watching old time movies, and going to the casino. He was the proud grandfather of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his beautiful wife of 44 years, Kay; his brothers, JR and George; and sister, Erna. He was a loving father to his children, Phil (Rose) Boothroyd, Don (Stephanie) Boothroyd, Mandy (Kevin) Brooks, Sarah (David) Stewart, Dawn Cooksey (Mike Cyrus) and Shawn Cooksey.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, followed by military honors at 8 p.m., at Randall and Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, Noblesville.
