Heights Goes All Out for New Teachers
New teachers joining Hamilton Heights recently participated in a special half-day onboarding and orientation program designed to help them start the school year feeling prepared and connected. The morning kicked off with introductions from district leaders who shared Hamilton Heights’ mission, values, strategic goals, and essential guidance on curriculum, professional development, and procedures.
The highlight of the day was the much-anticipated MartinWood Bus Tour, offering a firsthand look at Heights’ campus, facilities, and the vibrant communities it serves. Superintendent Dr. Derek Arrowood personally took the wheel, with narration by Melissa Martin, bringing the journey to life.
Representatives from the Hamilton Heights Classroom Teachers Association guided educators through the association’s role in advocacy, support, and professional camaraderie. Attendees also connected with building-level staff to learn more about technology resources, classroom management strategies and processes for sub plans, and absences.
By the end of the day, new hires left with a deeper understanding of Heights’ culture, a stronger sense of connection, and the confidence to hit the ground running. We’re thrilled to welcome such a talented, passionate group to Hamilton Heights.
