Joel Levi Launches Campaign for House District 37
Joel Levi officially launched his campaign for Indiana House District 37 in the 2026 election, pledging to put public education, working families, and community values at the center of his platform. A Cicero resident, parent, and longtime community advocate, Levi says he is stepping up to challenge the status quo and is taking on one of the most powerful figures in Indiana politics to do it.
Levi is running against current Speaker of the House Todd Huston in what he calls a “David versus Goliath” race. Huston, who has held immense influence over state policy for years, has overseen legislation that will strip millions of dollars from local public schools across the region.
“Our schools are already stretched thin, and our teachers are overworked and underpaid,” said Levi. “The decisions coming out of the Statehouse are hurting our communities. It’s time for leadership that actually listens to families and puts kids first.”
According to Levi, this race is about more than just one district. It is about changing the direction of the entire state. After years of one-party rule and backroom policymaking, Levi believes voters are ready for change.
“Flipping this seat would be a turning point. It would send a powerful message that Hoosiers are done being ignored,” Levi said. “A Statehouse that doesn’t work for all Hoosiers, is a Statehouse that doesn’t work.”
Levi’s campaign will focus on fully funding public education, increasing transparency in government, and ensuring every Hoosier has a voice. As a father, he is committed to keeping kids safe from gun violence and supports requiring background checks on private gun sales. He will fight to protect Indiana’s environment, defend Medicaid for the nearly two million Hoosiers who rely on it, and stand with unions to secure fair wages and dignity for working-class families.
“This campaign is powered by people, not special interests,” said Levi. “Every contribution, every volunteer, every conversation matters. Together, we can build something stronger than political power. We can build a movement.”
