County Schools Recognized by IHSAA for Sportsmanship

Five Hamilton County high schools were recently recognized by the Indiana High School Athletic Association for their good sportsmanship.

The IHSAA created the Sportsmanship / Leadership program designed to let school administrators monitor their results routinely. Schools are recognized based on scores attained during the season. Points are deducted for ejections of players, coaches, administrators and fans.

Hamilton County schools listed as First Team All-Sportsmanship (with no ejections) were: Sheridan, Hamilton Heights and Carmel.

County schools listed as Honorable Mention (with only one ejection) were: Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern and University.

“We want to acknowledge and congratulate those schools who have exemplified sportsmanship as indicated by their sportsmanship scores,” IHSAA Assistant Commissioner Jane Schott said. “By recognizing schools at the end of season, we hope this encourages schools to celebrate those programs who show exemplary sportsmanship.”
