Fishers Celebrates MLK Day With Service

Fishers will host its 4th annual MLK Day of Service celebration with a community-wide food drive, volunteer opportunities, and special activities that encourage residents to spread messages of hope and kindness during the National Day of Service.

MLK Day of Service Community Food Drive
With local food pantries experiencing an increase in demand and decrease in supply after the busy holiday season, the City of Fishers has partnered with Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County and Memory Ventures to replenish these resources. Since launching the community food drive in 2023, the City has collected over 71,000 pounds of food.

On Monday, Jan. 19, food donations will be collected at all three Fishers Kroger stores from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents can also order donations online and have them delivered directly to the collection site through our Amazon and Walmart wish lists. A list of donation needs is available at FishersIN.gov/MLKDay.

Now through Friday, Jan. 16, food drive donation bins are also available at the Fishers YMCA (9012 126th Street), Fishers City Hall (1 Municipal Drive), and Fishers Community Center, Strengthened by IU Health (11400 Johnson Farm Way) for residents who want to donate prior to the celebration on Jan. 19.

Volunteer Opportunities
For residents looking to give back through volunteerism, several opportunities are available:
