Branna Shares Idioms – C’mon, The More the Merrier

“I’m just going to “run this one up the flag pole,” in hopes I don’t come across as “not playing with a full deck.”

However, I am going to “kick up my heels” and “go the whole nine yards” because that’s me… always having “a bee in my bonnet!” If you are a word nerd like me, then I’m sure we’re “on the same page.”

Do you want to add more flavor, flair or finesse to your phrases? ‘Care to careen toward more color, creativity and cultural depth in your communication? Say “Aye!” to idioms!

If you long to learn more about this lingo, let’s look at these English expressions that have a meaning different from the literal interpretation of their words.

To many, this may look like “a storm and a teacup” (alias, a small issue made to look much bigger). However, I challenge everyone from any generation or genre to recall a particular parlance from your past. Maybe it was a parent, a peer, or just a random person that relayed such a realization that “landed  in your lap.” Did your mom ever “fly off the handle” when you came in after curfew? Does your hubby habitually hassle you for “making a mountain out of a molehill?” If so, this lively line of language lives within you!

In an effort not to “burn any more daylight” trying to build my case for this veritable verbiage, I promise to “pull the plug” and “nip this in the bud” now. Yes, this week will be “short and sweet.”

Now it’s time for you to “throw your hat in the ring.” Go ahead, I dare you!  “Give it your best shot” and shoot me an email with your favorite phraseology!
