Sen. Buck Shares Update

Here in Indiana, we know how important it is to ensure Hoosier kids receive a great education so they can be prepared for successful futures.

This year, we are working on several bills that:

Another important area we have continued to prioritize is helping students improve in reading and math. Thanks to these efforts, Indiana fourth graders’ reading scores jumped from 19th to sixth in the country on the nation’s report card.

This follows significant investments in literacy education, including $2.4 billion in new funding for tuition support over the last two budget cycles.

Honoring Vietnam Veterans

Vietnam War veterans should be honored and remembered for all the sacrifices they made for our country – during and after the war.

One way we can recognize these veterans is by nominating them for recognition by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.

The Service Beyond Service Award recognizes post-military efforts of outstanding Vietnam veterans who have continued to serve their community through volunteering, advocacy, professional distinction, public service and philanthropy.

The In Memory Program lets families and friends of veterans who served in Vietnam who have since passed away have their loved one forever memorialized.

This is the least we can do to recognize these brave men and women for their service during a period in our country’s history where they may not have gotten the appreciation they deserve.

State Sen. Jim Buck represent District 21, which includes Tipton County and portions of Hamilton and Howard counties.
