Superintendent Addresses Social Media Post
Dear Editor,
I have received several questions this week about a graphic circulating online advertising a political protest at Noblesville High School.
I want to assure the community that Noblesville Schools is not involved with this. We did not create this promotion and do not endorse, organize, encourage, or advertise any types of student political activism.
We assume this graphic may have been created by a student and shared on their personal social media, but we have not been able to confirm the validity of the promotion or event, or who originally created or posted it.
Sharing political views and values is a discussion between parents and their children, not the role of our schools. We have made our high school parents aware of this situation and have encouraged them to discuss their expectations with their children.
We are legally required to respect the First Amendment rights of students. However, students also have the responsibility to express their personal beliefs peacefully, safely, and in a manner that is not disruptive to other students or the operation of the school.
If those conditions are not met, then our staff will address it quickly and appropriately. As always, any students who are not in class will be subject to our attendance policies and procedures.
I sincerely appreciate the community members who reached out to me this week with questions about this issue. There are many things that circulate on social media, and not all of them are factual.
Our staff is here to serve our students, families and community, and I am always happy to answer any questions you may have about what is happening in your schools.
Dr. Dan Hile
Superintendent
Noblesville Schools
