County Department Earns National Accreditation

The Hamilton County Health Department has earned national accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board, a distinction that recognizes health departments that meet rigorous national standards for quality, accountability, and performance.

The achievement follows a multi-year process that required the department to undergo an extensive review of its programs, policies, preparedness efforts, communications strategies, and community health services.

“This accreditation demonstrates our commitment to providing the highest level of service to the residents of Hamilton County,” says Jason LeMaster, Administrator of the Hamilton County Health Department. “Public health touches nearly every aspect of daily life – from inspections and disease prevention to emergency preparedness and health education. This recognition confirms that our department is operating at the highest national standards and continuously working to improve how we serve the community.”

“This has truly been a department-wide effort,” adds Keirsha Davis, Accreditation Coordinator for the Hamilton County Health Department. “Every team member played a role in evaluating and improving the way we operate. Accreditation is not simply about checking boxes. It is about creating systems that help us respond more effectively, communicate more clearly, and better protect the health of our residents both now and in the future.”

National accreditation also requires health departments to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and accountability. Accredited agencies must continually evaluate programs, measure outcomes, and identify ways to improve services to the public.
