Renate Rosemarie Ridge

June 12, 1940 – September 11, 2022

Renate Rosemarie Ridge, 82, of Sheridan passed away on September 11, 2022, in Westfield after an extended illness.

She was born on June 12, 1940, in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of the late Herbert and Kate (Path) Weisschnur.

Mrs. Ridge married Francis W. (Skeet) Ridge on November 24, 1961, in Berlin, Germany, and then she came to America in September of 1963. After high school she went on to business college. She worked as a secretary in Berlin’s largest insurance company. In America, Mrs. Ridge worked at American State Bank / Summit Bank from 1969 – 1991, Union State Bank /Merchants Bank from 1991 – 1994 in the bookkeeping department. She worked for Millie’s at the USA Group for one year, 1998, and she also worked for the First Famers Bank and Trust at the Sheridan Branch from 1999–2004 as a bank teller.

Mrs. Ridge went on and earned her United States Citizenship. She enjoyed going to auctions, reading and collecting and selling antiques and collectables. At one point, she had a shop on Main Street in Sheridan called Décor Galore. She and her husband Skeet liked traveling with the Berlin Veteran’s Military Association, which met every year.

Survivors include her devoted daughter Yvonne (Ridge) Pickett of Sheridan; grandchild Steven M. Pickett of Noblesville; Larry (Sharon) Ridge of Massachusetts, Rex (Janice) Ridge of Florida, Dianne Ridge of Sheridan, Dean Marlow of Sheridan; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were here parents; husband Francis (Skeet) Ridge in 2021; son-in-law John Perry Pickett; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Doris Jeanne (Ridge) Smith, Vernon “Brub” Ridge, Barbara and Gerald Holliday, John Ridge, Phillip and Martha Ridge and Betty Marlow

Funeral Services are scheduled to be held on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Sheridan United Methodist Church located at 207 E. 2nd Street in Sheridan, where family and friends are invited to gather from 11 a.m. until time of services. The Rev. John Meunier will be officiating Renate services. Burial will follow at Crown View Cemetery.
