Quitona Marcelle Tharp

Quitona Marcelle Tharp, 83, of Fishers, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born on Dec. 5, 1939 to Johnnie Belle Reece in Itawanba County, Mississippi.
Mrs. Tharp was the younger sister of her beloved brother Ira Burdine. She married Bob Tharp in 1958 and together they had a daughter, Michelle.
She had a decades long career in childcare, babysitting from her home and serving as the Director for the YMCA before- and after-school program at New Britton Elementary. She was a tremendously talented cook and devoted caregiver. Mrs. Tharp was capable of anything and grateful for everything. Her creative and generous spirit gave her a knack for turning the mundane into magical moments, which she always made sure to write down in her journal. Animals also held a special place in her heart; her favorite gift to receive was a donation to the Humane Society in her honor. Mrs. Tharp was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved dearly and was dearly loved.
Survivors include her brother Ira; daughter Michelle; son-in-law Roger; 2 granddaughters Noelle and Isabelle; 3 great-grandchildren Violet, Vinny and Freddy; and beloved friends Susie Ford and Annie Kelly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Tharp.
Services are scheduled to be held at 12 p.m., noon on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St. in Noblesville. Visitation is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to the time of service at the funeral home. Private family burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
