Apex Benefits To Sponsor Summer Author Series At WWPL

Four Indiana Authors Scheduled to Share their Work.

Apex Benefits will sponsor a Summer Author Series at the Westfield Washington Public Library. The employee benefits advisor and business consultancy has committed $10,000 each year for the next three years to help the Westfield Library Foundation sponsor the Summer Author Series.

“Apex Benefits is thrilled to support Westfield’s new library and its efforts to engage local authors in inspiring the next generation,” says John Gause, CEO of Apex Benefits. “We believe this partnership will not only help increase awareness of the library’s offerings, but also enhance quality of life for everyone in the community.”

The public is invited to hear four authors this summer, all with Hoosier connections, as they share their work, talk about their writing processes, and in some cases, sell and sign their books.

“Bringing authors to the library is a great way to become inspired to read and write in one’s own life,” says Lisa Williams, Teen Librarian. “In fact, our first author focuses on creative writing and incorporates audience participation, so that’s super fun. He’s very engaging and interactive.”

Bryan Furuness, has authored a couple of teen novels, The Lost Episodes of Revie Bryson and Do Not Go On. A Writer in Residence at Butler University and a board member of the Indiana Writers Center, Furuness will kick off the Summer Author Series at the library on Thursday, June 8 at 1:00 p.m.

The library will follow that visit up with one from children’s author John David Anderson. Anderson is the author of 12 novels for young people. A resident of Indianapolis, his newest book, The Greatest Kid in the World will be released this month. Anderson is set to appear Tuesday, July 18 at 1:00 p.m.

Addi Gundry, author of the Addie Gundry Cookbooks series, will appear at West Fork Whiskey on Thursday, August 3 at 6:30 p.m. Her cookbook series, which currently consists of 11 novels, came about after she won Cutthroat Kitchen on The Food Network. Her books include Everyday Dinner Ideas, Family Favorite Casserole Recipes, and Festive Holiday Recipes.

And finally, Craig Fehrman, is scheduled to appear at the library on Monday, September 11 at 6:00 p.m. The Hoosier native is a journalist and historian. His first book, Author in Chief, is an in-depth look at the books and writings of America’s past presidents.

“We are thrilled to partner with Apex Benefits on this Author’s Series,” says Erin Downey, executive director of the Westfield Library Foundation. “The ability to bring in different authors for all ages throughout the summer is very exciting. Apex Benefits’ willingness to jump in and support the library in this way is a testament to their commitment to education and community.”
