What makes Sydney Strange smile? “Watching everyone get along and meeting people at club meetings and or just here in general,” said the 14-year-old, a freshman at Fishers High School, a seven-year 4-H’er who has been in Junior Leaders four years. She is secretary of Junior Leaders. Why 4-H? “It’s always just been such a close, tight-knit community that’s always had so many fun people that I know and that I can meet. It’s always been so fun to get to know everyone.” She is the daughter of Shawn and Susie Strange and was found dressed as Little Red Riding Hood and leading the Cake Walk, one of the many activities at the Hamilton County Junior Leaders’ annual Halloween Carnival, Haunted House and Hayride on Oct. 3 at the 4-H Fairgrounds. Favorite activity at the Halloween event? “Fishing or the haunted house.” Her duties at the party? She led the Cake Walk, Fishing game and sometimes I roamed around trying to help.” She loves doing activities with Junior Leaders, who feel like “we’re a family,” she said. Her favorite 4-H project? “Arts and Crafts, and Horse and Pony.” a proud 4-H Fair achievement? “When I was little, I won the (pedal) tractor pull, and I still have the trophy.” Enrollment is now open to join Hamilton County 4-H for the 2024 year, now through Jan. 15, with the theme, “Let’s Have S’More Fun.” Enroll in 4-H and earn a s’more kit.
