Sen. Walker Shares Update With the arrival of winter weather in Indiana, road conditions are likely to become a factor in our daily commutes to work, taking kids to school and running errands.

During a winter weather event, snowplows will be out to clear snow and ice from roadways.

The Indiana Department of Transportation asks motorists to follow these safety measures when driving near a snowplow. Give plows room to work. Be patient, as snowplows travel below the posted speed limit. Keep an eye out — while you may see snowplows, they may not always see you. When winter weather hits, motorists are asked to clear snow and ice from your car, inspect your vehicle, leave plenty of time to reach your destination and keep a basic survival kit in your car with items like winter travel gear, ice scraper/snow brush, jumper cables and road flares.
