Riverview Unveils Expanded Acute Rehab Unit

Riverview Health has opened its newly expanded acute rehabilitation unit at the Noblesville hospital, featuring state-of-the-art facilities and advanced equipment to enhance rehabilitation services. This unveiling marks the completion of phase one of a two-phase project, which has increased the unit’s capacity to 24 beds.

The unit has been named “The Mindrebo Family Acute Rehabilitation Unit” in recognition of the significant contribution from Dr. Norman and Peggy Mindrebo. Dr. Mindrebo is a respected orthopedic surgeon at Riverview Health Physicians Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. The unit will begin welcoming patients this week.

The newly renovated acute rehabilitation unit offers a healing and patient-centered environment with accessible patient rooms designed to support comprehensive rehabilitation care for individuals recovering from conditions such as stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and orthopedic surgery. The unit is the only CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited facility in Hamilton County and has been serving the community for over 30 years.

“We are incredibly proud to open this newly renovated Mindrebo Family Acute Rehabilitation Unit at Riverview Health,” said Dave Hyatt, CEO of Riverview Health. “This important investment, made possible through the generous support of the Riverview Health Foundation and its donors, underscores our commitment to providing the highest quality rehabilitation services to our community and supporting patients on their journey to recovery.”

“Riverview Health Foundation is profoundly grateful for our donors’ remarkable support in making this exceptional acute rehabilitation unit a reality, enhancing care for our community,” said Megan Wiles, Vice President, Foundation & Community Affairs, Riverview Health. “With the successful completion of phase one, we are now focused on raising funds to support phase two, the renovation of the existing patient rooms to match these new facilities. Those interested in supporting our continued efforts to update the entire unit can find more information and donation opportunities at donate.riverview.org/rehabilitation-center.”

A grand opening celebration was held on Friday, May 16, at Riverview Health Noblesville Hospital. Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen attended the event and assisted with the ribbon-cutting ceremony, demonstrating the city’s support for this vital healthcare advancement. Dr. Norman Mindrebo spoke at a VIP preview, sharing his perspective as a Riverview Health orthopedic surgeon on the importance of comprehensive rehabilitation and his family’s commitment to the hospital.
