Indiana’s lifeline law signals to Hoosier families and youth that safety comes first. In the 2025 legislative session, the Indiana General Assembly passed a bill to extend the immunities offered by the lifeline law.
Previously, the lifeline law offered legal protections only to minors under the influence of alcohol who called to report a medical emergency.
Senate Enrolled Act 74, which I co-authored, extends the lifeline law’s legal protections to the person in need of medical attention due to their over consumption of alcohol.
By updating Indiana’s lifeline law, youth are given the confidence to save lives by taking action during a medical emergency.
