Carmel Passes Resolution Promoting Civic Volunteerism
Supporting volunteers and the efforts that rely on them, the City of Carmel will soon implement a free service that will link service-minded residents to critical community needs.
In a supporting resolution, the City Council recently unanimously approved a resolution sponsored by Councilor Anita Joshi that advances Mayor Sue Finkam’s commitment to fostering and encouraging a culture of volunteerism and community engagement.
As part of that commitment, the City will begin partnering with JustServe.org, a free service that allows organizations to promote service opportunities and gives volunteers a place to search for events and efforts in need of their help.
“Carmel is fortunate to have a wealth of events and services for our residents,” said Mayor Finkam. “These community efforts are powered, in many cases, by volunteers. Sustaining these activities and building others like them calls for even more helping hands and I appreciate the council supporting my vision in this way.” The City’s launch of JustServe is expected to occur early this fall.
