2 Killed in Separate Accidents
Hamilton County first responders had to deal with two separate fatal accidents just less than three hours apart last week.
At 6:40 Thursday evening, a 16-year0old girl tragically lost her life when her 2023 Toyota RAV4 left Gwinn Road and slammed into a tree. The teen was the only one in the vehicle.
Then around 9:30, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a head-on crash on U.S. 31 near 191st Street. Edward Johnson, a 62-year-old from Sheridan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the Chevrolet Cruze Johnson was driving crossed the median and veered into the northbound lanes. It hit a Dodge Ram and both vehicles were catastrophically damaged. The occupants of the Dodge only had minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team is conducting the investigation into the U.S. 31 crash and the Reconstruction Team is investigating the Gwinn Road accident.
