Little Free Courthouse Library Open for Reading
A new Little Free Courthouse Library has been placed in the jury assembly room on the second floor of the Judicial Center. Court of Appeals Judge Paul Felix and Hamilton County Court Administrator Jill Acklin recently stocked the shelves with books donated by the Indiana Court of Appeals.
“By donating books, we hope to make the courthouse a little less scary, and a bit more inviting,” Felix explained. “If the books can mitigate a little bit of the anxiety surrounding a child’s or their parent’s attendance at the courthouse, this endeavor will be well worth it.”
The Indiana Court of Appeals is donating books to courthouses and counties across Indiana to make reading materials more available to the public. The library includes books for children, young adults, and adults.
“We welcome anyone to stop by our Little Free Courthouse Library,” Acklin added. “There is truly something for everyone on our shelves, and we look forward to seeing the collection continue to expand and serve anyone in the building.”
Anyone visiting the courthouse may read the books while they wait or take one with them. The hope is that the collection will continue to grow as people return and donate additional books.
