Geist Half Race Series Back for 18th Year
The City of Fishers has announced the return of Indiana’s premier waterfront race, the Geist Half Race Series, for its 18th year on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
The series features race distances for every level of runner and walker, including a family-friendly 5K; popular 10K race; and challenging 13.1K half marathon featuring 800 feet of elevation. Each race features a waterfront course along Geist Reservoir, and all participants receive a medal, race shirt, and drink ticket to redeem at the post-race party.
The 2025 race series attracted 2,500 participants from 26 states. It was also the site for a successful Guinness World Record for the fastest half marathon in a four-person costume, where four former cross country and track athletes from Anderson University conquered the half marathon dressed in a caterpillar costume.
New in 2026, kids can run or walk in the 5K race for only $20, making it more economical for families to participate. Youth pricing will not increase throughout the registration period.
The Geist Half Race Series has once again partnered with the Fishers Arts Council on a community art contest for the race shirt design. The 2026 art contest is open to current high school juniors and seniors, and submissions will be accepted from Jan. 5 through Feb. 5. The top entries will be voted on by the community via social media and in-person at Fishers City Hall and Fishers Community Center in late February. To learn more, visit FishersArtsCouncil.org.
Last year’s sold-out VIP Perks package will also return in 2026. For an additional $58.99, participants can add-on reserved race day parking, signature VIP swag, access to the post-race recovery zone, VIP gear check, and an additional drink ticket for the post-race party.
Applications are also open for the Geist Half Marathon Ambassador Program. Ambassadors help to promote the race through social media and onsite at community events in exchange for free race registration, signature race gear, and more.
