County Native Gains Experience in 2026 Session

Carmel High School graduate August Miller gained experience as an intern with State Rep. Danny Lopez (R-Carmel) and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2026 legislative session.

Miller is the son of Jennifer and Jerid Miller. He recently graduated Indiana University Indianapolis with a major in political science.

“I love being able to help the people of Indiana by supporting policy,” Miller said. “Connecting with constituents also plays an important role in ensuring their state government is working for them.”

As a legislative intern, Miller corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.

“August is a promising young leader from our community,” Lopez said. “It’s encouraging to see interns like him demonstrate a commitment and willingness to serve.”

Each year, the Indiana House offers paid, full-time, spring semester internship opportunities to college students, recent graduates and students in graduate and law school during the legislative session.
