| Suspending the Gas TaxThis week, I joined State Sen. Travis Holdman in urging the governor to temporarily suspend the state’s tax on gas. Shortly after my call to suspend the tax, Gov. Braun announced a 30-day suspension of the state’s 7% sales tax on gas, which will help Hoosiers save money as the cost to fill up remains high. Senate Republicans have a long track record of passing laws to lower costs and cut taxes for Hoosiers. Despite everything we’ve worked on at the Statehouse to maintain our state’s low cost of living, the current price of gas is adding too much pressure on Hoosier families. Thanks to our years of fiscal discipline, Indiana has the ability to provide this much-needed relief for Hoosiers. I will continue to prioritize affordability issues so all Hoosiers can thrive. |
