Natalia (Applegate) Wilkins

January 9, 1937 – May 8, 2022

Natalia (Applegate) Wilkins, 85, of Westfield passed away May 8, 2022, following a short bout with cancer.

She was born January 9, 1937, in Carmel, an only child of the late Jerald and Thelma (Goodner) Applegate. She remained a lifelong resident of Hamilton County.

After raising her children, Ms. Wilkins pursued her dream of becoming a nurse. Graduating nurses training, she began working at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, in 1984 where she worked in the Cardiac Critical Care Unit for 15 years fulfilling her calling. In 1999, Ms. Wilkins retired to care for her dad and enjoy the grandchildren.

Her passion was spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved deeply. She would say “a great day is playing with my grandchildren in my playhouse!” Ms. Wilkins loved the holiday festivities, maintaining a beautiful lawn and flowers of all varieties. She was an avid train enthusiast. Her greatest joy of all was the few hours she spent with Fred before he passed.

Survivors include her three devoted children Jacinta (Tom) Stephenson, Derinda Vessely and Devon (Tracey) Wilkins; six grandchildren Wilson (Dani) Vessely, Anna Vessely, Jennifer (Dan) Chester, Jason (Nicole) Clark, Jill Gilmer and Joe Clark; and five great-grandchildren Mav Chester, Averie Clark, Nichole Clark, Layla Clark and Lane Clark.

Family and friends are scheduled to gather on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 10 a.m. in Eagle Creek Evangelical Friends Church, 18103 Eagletown Road, Westfield, IN 46074, where the Funeral Service is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
