Doris Christine Beason
August 2, 1931 – June 9, 2022
For 351 days, Doris Christine Beason, 90, of Noblesville, was separated from her soulmate of more than 71 years, George. On Thursday, June 9, 2022, they were reunited-never to be apart again.
She was born August 2, 1931, to Louis Edward and Annie Mable (Herb) Small in Vigo County, Indiana, in the small town of Coal Bluff.
Though the family moved to Tipton when she was still young, Mrs. Beason would spend summers in Fontanet, often and fondly recounting the best of times with her cousins on the farm. As she grew, she would spend the days helping her mother hang wallpaper, wrangling her younger siblings, and babysitting to save dimes to spend summers at the pool. It was in Tipton that she met a lovely gentleman who would sweep her off her feet.
With George, she enjoyed raising three incredible girls in the small community of Noblesville, just south of where they first met. Friends and family were everything to them and Mrs. Beason never missed an opportunity to spend time with them, share a meal, or participate in her community.
She was no stranger to hard work, even working two jobs to go back to high school for her degree after her children were born, and later working as an insurance agent. Mrs. Beason led a disciplined and diligent life, driven to persevere and overcome any setback, of which there were a few. She was devastated by the loss of her siblings, particularly her sister Judy Ann and brother Tommy at young ages.
Through it all, she still took every opportunity for fun, whether that was maintaining a pool and enjoying the water with her youngest daughter, to water skiing and enjoying the houseboat life, or her many creative outlets. Mrs. Beason would paint the finishing touches on any woodworking project of George’s. She would craft cookie jars and holiday décor from painted ceramics pieces to handmade Halloween costumes for her grandchildren.
Mrs. Beason and her husband enjoyed the fruits of a large and bountiful garden. With the harvest, she would quart and freeze shelves of food for her family, bake a multitude of pies and “shelly” beans for her church community, and gift something every friend or family member who visited. You just didn’t leave her house without a quart of tomatoes, a jar of jelly, or some fresh vegetables.
Mrs. Beason was active in her community. She worked on the Noblesville tax board for nearly three decades and was a member of First Christian Church of Noblesville for nearly 40 years, serving in various capacities including as an elder, Christian Women’s Fellowship member, and was an enthusiastic participant in bible study groups. She also crocheted newborn hats, lap blankets, and pillows for various healthcare facilities and organizations around town. Mrs. Beason and her husband especially enjoyed attending all the Noblesville ball games together and making peanut brittle annually with their church friends.
Survivors include her three beautiful daughters Katherine Sue Brown, Diana Lynn Russell and Christi Rae (Brad) Johnson; four grandchildren Abigail (Paul) Moore, John Russell, Lily (Ben) Renner and Amber Johnson; and two great-grandchildren Arlie and West Moore.
She was preceded in death by her husband George Ray Beason; parents; seven brothers and sisters; son-in-law John “Tim” Russell; and countless friends she had made and lost over the years-most certainly a reunion beyond any Earthly words or measure.
Services are scheduled to be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022, at First Christian Church of Noblesville, 16377 Herriman Blvd., Noblesville, IN 46060, with Nick Orange officiating. Visitation is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton at approximately 2:30 p.m.
